Do you love to sing, but haven't sung since High School or college? Are you looking for something more than a church choir? Want to learn how to sing better and meet people, who share your love of music? Do you want your children to have proper voice training and learn proper breathing techniques to sing in all the styles of today? Do you want them to gain the self-assurance provided by individual attention? Do you home school, but want them to have the advantage of singing with a choir? Does your teenager want to be featured and not just be a part of the large school chorus? Do they want to learn dramatics and movement and be featured in musicals and have solos? Consider auditioning and joining one of our choirs! We have a choir for all ages from 3rd grade through your 80's! Because, we have members from the five counties, you will probably be able to car-pool with someone from your area to the rehearsals in Sewickley. The Village Singers needs all voices Sopranos, Altos, Basses and especially Tenors. Our repertoire includes, classical, spirituals, gospel, musicals, folk, standards, jazz and pop styles. They give about 6 concerts each semester. They meet on Mondays from 7:15-9:30pm, beginning the Monday after Labor Day.
The Teen Chorale for 8th graders through High School students, meets on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-9:30pm. At Christmas, they will present a "Madrigal Celebration" in costume of 16th century England with king, queen, court jesters and royal court. The script is satire and includes solo and ensemble singing. They will give about 6 concerts during the Christmas season. The Choraleers is our children's choir from 3rd through 7th graders that meet after school 1 day a week from 4:15-6:15. The children are taught proper breathing and vocal techniques to sing with resonance in their head voice and to learn how to properly sing in all styles of music including musical theater belt and pop. There are also classes in ear training and sol-fege, which is sight-singing by syllable. They learn to sing in 4 part harmony.
