'THE COLORS OF CHRISTMAS' IN CONCERT

Celebrate this Christmas season by hearing the Village Singers present 'The Colors of Christmas' in Concert. The full spectrum of colors on our musical palette is represented in the many styles of music that we use including: classical, jazz, gospel, pop, opera and traditional. Using Estill Vocal Techniques, we are able to sing in all of these recipes.

Green is for the rebirth of hope of a people waiting for Messiah heard in the contemporary Come, Come Emmanuel by Joel Raney. Red foretells the blood of Christ to be shed before there is peace in Casting Crown's pop version of I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day and Noel Peace Canon. which includes Dona Nobis Pacem. White is for the infant so pure and sweet in Immanuel and Poor Little Jesus. Blue is for the robe of His Mother so mild portrayed in Amy Grant's Breath of Heaven and Schubert's Ave Maria, arranged by Kirby Shaw for choir. Brown represents the stable and the cross heard in the a capella As Joseph Was A Walking. Silver is the starlight heard in a jazz and Gospel rendition of Hark The Herald Angels Sing and An Angelic Medley, including an audience Sing Along. Gold is for the precious gifts to the child in Little Drummer Boy. The full rainbow of colors for the wonders of Christmas will be found in Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's Messiah.

The Village Singers is an auditioned community choir that draws its members from the five counties of Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Lawrence and Washington counties. The choir is under the direction of Linda Wallace of Sewickley Hills, and their accompanist is Kathy Kelso of Wexford. This is the same group that has performed 'Why Must He Die?', the musical passion play during the Lenten season in the past.

There will be only 6 performances this Christmas season of 'The Colors of Christmas.' There are no tickets required for these performances, but a free will offering will be taken in all of our church performances.
