If you were moved by the seriousness of our Lenten ministry in 'Why Must He Die?, then you will totally enjoy the lightheartedness of our 'Mega Musicals' Concerts this May! On Sunday, May 19 at 4pm at St. James Church at 200 Walnut Street in Sewickley you will want to be there humming along with TriCounty Choir Institute's Village Singers, Village Quartet and our newly formed Women's Quartet as they present their final concert of the season.
Every genre of musical theater will be heard from our Village Singers, our community choir encompassing select members from Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Lawrence and Washington counties. Come listen to George Gershwin's 'Summertime' from Porgy nnd Bess to the latest hits from the blockbuster movie, Les Mis including, 'I Dreamed A Dream', Castle On A Cloud' and 'Do You Hear The People Sing'. Do you like the old standards? How about 'Lullaby of Broadway' 'Forty-Second Street 'and 'Theme from New York, New York'. Does Rogers and Hammerstein music move you? It will in 'If I Loved You' from Carousel.
Our men's ensemble, the Village Quartet. will be featured in songs from Fiddler On The Roof, 'Sunrise Sunset, and Sabbath Prayer'. They will sing 'Old Man River' from Jerome Kern's Showboat to 'Muddy Water' from the country musical Big River by Roger Miller. Our newly formed women's quartet will sing the feature song 'Dreamgirls' from that musical and 'Popular' from Stephen's Schwartz'S Wicked. They will perform the title song 'Sound of Music' and ' Children Will Listen from Into The Woods by Stephen Sondheim.
Altogether you will hear selections from the following musicals: Kiss Me Kate, Oklahoma, My Fair Lady, South Pacific, Flower Drum Song, Evita, The Music Man, Godspell, Jesus Christ Superstar, Annie, Guys and Dolls, Funny Girl and Cats, Man of La Mancha, and West Side Story. Don't miss this fantastic show of all your favorite songs!
All the choirs are under the direction of Linda Wallace of Sewickley and our accompanist is Kathy Kelso from Wexford.
You can get advanced sale reduced price tickets for the only concert where you can hear all of these great groups and songs by calling 412-761-0576 to reserve your ticket at half the door price. Adults are only $7, seniors over 65 are $6, and children under 12 are $5. At the door, tickets will double in price! So hurry! Call and reserve your tickets now! If you have already ordered and paid for a DVD of our 2013 Lenten Ministry, 'Why Must He Die?' at one of our performances, please note that we are in the process of producing it now and it will be available by the beginning to the end of May.
